The crafty countdown is ON … HANDMADE ARCADE is calling all crafters, designers, makers and DIY artists. 

Apply today to be a part of Pittsburgh’s first and largest independent craft fair, one of the city’s most anticipated annual events, held this year on Saturday, December 8.

Vendor applications are open now through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Here’s a sneak peek:

  • Handmade Arcade is hosting its first-ever Friday-night fundraiser before our big event. The Cutting Edge: A Fundraiser for Handmade Arcade will take place on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., inside our event space at the convention center. This exciting opportunity will allow participating vendors to load-in early on Friday afternoon, sell their wares at no extra charge during our benefit, and mingle with HA shoppers, organizers, supporters and sponsors.
  • The event is returning to the upper-level floor of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Hall B offers natural light, expanded space, and access to a spacious lobby and balcony with river and city views.

Handmade Arcade 2017 was a record-breaking year. We:

  • Welcomed 10,000+ attendees
  • Hosted 172 exceptional vendors
  • Offered 17 Hands-on Handmade Activities for all ages
  • Piloted a new Youth Maker Scholarship Program mentoring seven high school students
  • Launched a Craft Corridor track for emerging artists

Handmade Arcade is now seeking craft-based artists, makers, arts groups, collectives and educators to lead interactive and innovative projects for the public on Saturday, December 8, 2018, as part of our dynamic Hands-on Handmade Activity Area (HOHA).

Free to all, HOHA is designed to connect creators and consumers, engage attendees and vendors in a shared creative process, increase awareness about handmade locally produced goods, and encourage everyone to make things by hand.

CALLING ALL YOUTH MAKERS!

  • Are you a craft-based artist, maker or designer aged 16 to 18 — or do you know someone who is?

  • Looking for new opportunities to develop your ideas and business plan and gain exposure?

The Handmade Arcade Youth Scholarship Program returns in 2018 to empower craft-based artists, makers and entrepreneurs ages 16 to 18! This unique program provides free vendor space for a limited number of youth to share and sell original products in Handmade Arcade’s Youth Maker Alley on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. From the application process to product development to being showcased at one of the country’s leading maker events, participants will learn the value of enterprise, innovation, collaboration and making things by hand.

Support for HA Youth Makers includes: sessions and mentoring with Handmade Arcade, an invitation to join HA’s Vendor Facebook Group, press coverage and more!

With so many events happening this April, Handmade Arcade doesn’t want you to miss a thing. We compiled a list for April 19 – 30 to keep you in the crafty loop.  Get up, get out and get creative!

MULTIPLE DAY EVENTS: 

Construction Junction Earth Month Celebration: Through April 28
Construction Junction continues its Earth Month Celebration with daily events to encourage reuse and sustainability in Pittsburgh. Visit CJReuse.org for the entire calendar of events.

Join Handmade Arcade organizers for a Pop-Up Shop at Construction Junction on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. 

The HA Pop-up Shop will feature items for sale made by HA organizers such as aprons, coasters, explorations in plastic canvas and felt, accessories, t-shirts, greeting cards, collections of odds and ends and junk-inspired doo-dads and more. Stop by to shop, say hello and make a tiny flower with vintage buttons and wires. (A portion of the proceeds will be invested back into HA to support the organization’s Youth Maker Scholarship Program, Craft Corridor for emerging artists, and Hands-on Handmade Activity Area for all ages)
