The crafty countdown is ON … HANDMADE ARCADE is calling all crafters, designers, makers and DIY artists. 

Apply today to be a part of Pittsburgh’s first and largest independent craft fair, one of the city’s most anticipated annual events, held this year on Saturday, December 8.

Vendor applications are open now through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Here’s a sneak peek:

  • Handmade Arcade is hosting its first-ever Friday-night fundraiser before our big event. The Cutting Edge: A Fundraiser for Handmade Arcade will take place on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., inside our event space at the convention center. This exciting opportunity will allow participating vendors to load-in early on Friday afternoon, sell their wares at no extra charge during our benefit, and mingle with HA shoppers, organizers, supporters and sponsors.
  • The event is returning to the upper-level floor of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Hall B offers natural light, expanded space, and access to a spacious lobby and balcony with river and city views.

Handmade Arcade 2017 was a record-breaking year. We:

  • Welcomed 10,000+ attendees
  • Hosted 172 exceptional vendors
  • Offered 17 Hands-on Handmade Activities for all ages
  • Piloted a new Youth Maker Scholarship Program mentoring seven high school students
  • Launched a Craft Corridor track for emerging artists
  • Sold-out of Early Birdie Passes earlier than ever before
  • Finalized our nonprofit status
  • Exceeded 10,000 followers on Facebook and 5,000 followers on Instagram

April’s Final Crafty Happenings Installment


With so many events happening this April, Handmade Arcade doesn’t want you to miss a thing. We compiled a list for April 19 – 30 to keep you in the crafty loop.  Get up, get out and get creative!


Construction Junction Earth Month Celebration: Through April 28
Construction Junction continues its Earth Month Celebration with daily events to encourage reuse and sustainability in Pittsburgh. Visit for the entire calendar of events.

Join Handmade Arcade organizers for a Pop-Up Shop at Construction Junction on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. 

The HA Pop-up Shop will feature items for sale made by HA organizers such as aprons, coasters, explorations in plastic canvas and felt, accessories, t-shirts, greeting cards, collections of odds and ends and junk-inspired doo-dads and more. Stop by to shop, say hello and make a tiny flower with vintage buttons and wires. (A portion of the proceeds will be invested back into HA to support the organization’s Youth Maker Scholarship Program, Craft Corridor for emerging artists, and Hands-on Handmade Activity Area for all ages)

Pittsburgh Earth Day: April 18 – 21
From Steel to Sustainable is a citywide celebration dedicated to educating, inspiring, and celebrating sustainability in the region. Visit for a complete list of events.

A 10-day citywide collection of individually planned events created by separate hosts and promoted unilaterally as a single unit — with the goal of highlighting the wide array of creative culture and entrepreneurial spirit modern Pittsburgh has to offer. Visit for a complete list of events.

JFilm Festival at SouthSide Works Cinema: April 26 – May 6
The annual JFilm Festival presents international Jewish-themed films that deepen audiences’ understanding of Jewish culture, tolerance, and our common humanity. Visit for a complete list of films at the JFilm Festival.

Art All Night Saturday: Starting on April 28 at 4 p.m. and ending on Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m.
Free, 22-hour art festival featuring non-censored, non-juried artwork from hundreds of local artists.

PGH PHOTO FAIR: April 28 – 29
Pittsburgh’s only art fair promoting photography within the contemporary and fine art market. This year, PGH Photo Fair hosts 14 internationally known dealers and photography projects.Visit for details.

Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Offers FREE Membership to Southwestern Pennsylvania Artists
Since launching the new Free Artist Membership program last week, approximately 60 new members have already joined the GPAC network. Artists may sign up to become members free of charge, and will receive member benefits such as: discounted legal and business consulting, art supplies, professional development, free networking, and more.

Out of Hand: Remix (7 – 10:30 p.m.)
Pittsburgh’s ultimate spring creative experience that you can’t miss! Join Contemporary Craft for a hands-on evening of art-making, art auctions, funky fashions, local cuisine, craft brews, eclectic tunes, freestyle dance moves and more!

Out of Hand is Contemporary Craft’s annual giving gala supporting free exhibitions, education and arts programming for all ages. Spin, mix, turn and twist the night away at this celebration of craft – an accessible art form perfectly suited for creative storytelling and personal discovery.

SouthSide Works Exposed vendor market applications are open. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this three-day celebration of local art, music and food. Vendor market hosted by Second Shift Crafters. Application Deadline: Wednesday, April 25. Artists will be selected and notified of their acceptance in May. 

Wings & Wildlife Call for Artists at The National Aviary
The National Aviary will showcase regional artists and makers at the Wings and Wildlife Art Show November 2-4, 2018.  For its fourth consecutive year, this juried exhibition and marketplace will feature artists representing a diverse variety of mediums whose work is centered on wildlife, nature, creative reuse, sustainability, or is otherwise tied to the conservation mission of the National Aviary. The weekend will open with a soiree and benefit auction on the evening of Friday, November 2 with a two-day public show to follow. Application Deadline: Monday, April 30. Approximately 40 artists will be selected and notified of their acceptance in May. 

Startable Pittsburgh applications are open for its summer camp!
This free eight-week summer program teaches students (ages 16-18) entrepreneurship and maker skills. (Applications are rolling until filled.)
