April: A month of crafty happenings

With so many events happening this April, Handmade Arcade doesn’t want you to miss a thing. We compiled a list for this week, April 2 – 8th, to keep you in the loop. This is the first of four installments of April’s Crafty Happenings.

Inclusive Innovation Week 2018

Join the city, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals to support and participate in the inclusive efforts happening across Pittsburgh. Check out the on-line calendar for event details.

Celebrate Earth Month with Construction Junction
Visit their Facebook event page for a list of in-store happenings that include demos, plant sales, composting classes, seed starting, and a Handmade Arcade Pop-Up shop with a hands-on activity on April 28th.

Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival
Friday, April 6 from 12 to 7 pm

Saturday, April 7 from 10 am to 6 pm
Sunday, April 8 from 12 to 7 pm
David L. Lawrence Convention Center
Three-day festival featuring classes, special events and a marketplace for quilters, sewers, knitters, crocheters, jewelry makers, fiber artists and more!

Unblurred: First Friday Art Crawl on Penn Ave
Friday, April 6 from 6 to 11 pm

Penn Avenue Arts & Commercial District, Penn Ave from Mathilda St to Negley Ave.

PGH Vintage Mixer Home Show
Saturday, April 7 from 9 am to 6 pm

Kitsch! Conversation! Collectibles! The Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer is a one-of-a-kind genuine vintage vendor fair that melds community, creative inspiration and nostalgia. Now in its 11th season, PGH Vintage Mixer is gathering the best in regional vintage furnishing and fashion sellers for their annual spring PGH Vintage Mixer Home Show
General admission tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. (Kids under 12 are free.) Visit their Facebook event page for all the details.

Looking for your summer crafty fix?

SouthSide Works Exposed vendor market applications are open now through April 25th. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this three-day celebration of local art, music, and food.  Vendor market hosted by Second Shift Crafters.

Startable Pittsburgh applications are open for its summer camp! This free eight-week summer program teaches students (ages 16-18) entrepreneurship and maker skills. (June 25 – August 17, applications are rolling.)
