Hello, I’m Jenelle Huddleston, the creator behind Pennyknot! I am based in the Stanton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh. I have dabbled in crafting my entire lift, but crocheting was the art that really stuck with me. My grandma would crochet for days on end and made the most beautiful blankets and lacework. I decided to focus on toys and stuffed friends since I love animals and creating my own characters. All of my crochet items are made from my original designs, which have taken over five years of pattern development. While I have core animal offerings, I love tweaking designs to make custom creatures to match family pets.
While I don’t have pets myself, researching animals to perfect designs has made me fall in love with corgis. This year I am hoping to offer more dog breeds and cats too! Last year, I was really excited to add koala and llama items to my line. Every year I try to keep up with the latest trending animals, so I love when customers tell me about their nursery themes. The craziest thing I have ever made was a GIANT pink possum with a little yellow bow. No custom design challenge is too extreme!
Every piece takes between 2–10 hours to create, so I am pouring some of me into every item. There are usually bits of fuzz or yarn strands still attached to me when I leave the house! I miss seeing everyone at in-person shows, but I hope people like knowing how special and unique every toy really is.
