Hi there, and thank you so much for visiting our Handmade Arcade maker page. My name’s Jamie, and I started 837 North here in Pittsburgh with my sister, Allison, in 2013. 

Pairing scents together has been a love of mine since I was young. I often blended my perfumes to create something unique because I didn’t feel represented by most fragrance options. When I started the business, there were almost no gender-neutral fragrances on the market, and I quickly learned I wasn’t the only one disappointed by it. 

I’m happiest when I’m creating something unexpected. Whether they’re made with fruits, flowers, or wood, our perfumes and candles are unisex and meant to be enjoyed by everyone. The guiding principle at 837 North is creating products that don’t leave people feeling boxed in by what they’re “supposed to” like. One of the most rewarding parts of this job is creating blends that make people feel more like themselves.

I get my inspiration from nature, and I’m fascinated by how scent can trigger memories. We love to create mixes that remind you of the places you’ve been- so we make our infusions in-house to keep our blends as “true” as possible. We think of all of our products as a love letter to iconic regions all around the world. 

As an extension of that love, we use recyclable jars/bottles with eco-friendly packaging to keep our footprint tiny. Our candles are made with American-grown soy and 100% cotton wicks to ensure a clean burn every time, and our perfumes are blended with therapy-grade coconut oil and ethically-sourced plants to create the best product possible for our customers.
