ABOUT ME:
Hello and welcome to Amelia Kieras Paper Arts! I create handmade pop-up cards, picture books, and shadow boxes, featuring original illustration and digital collage. My work is full of cute animals, weird monsters, and surreal stories.
I went to photography school and figured out halfway through that I liked messing around with photos on the computer ( with some very surreal results) more than I liked taking pictures. I also spent a lot of time doodling strange creatures all over my school notes. One thing led to another and I started creating layered photo collage digital illustrations. I pushed the layered nature of my illustrations further, which has led to my pop-up cards and shadow box scenes, as well as my interactive mixup art pieces like my books, blocks, and magnet tiles.
ABOUT THE SHOP:
To create my imagery, I start with a sketch, scan it, and then build the final illustration from a collage of original photography and digital painting techniques. After I create the artwork and design the product, I print, cut, and assemble almost everything in my home studio in Dormont, PA. I print with archival pigment inks onto heavyweight matte paper to create rich, velvety colors. I cut my pop-up cards myself using a professional cutting machine. Thanks for checking out my work!
