Boucher Pottery

I’m Madeleine Boucher, the yinzer potter behind Boucher Pottery. I have been making functional pottery since 2017 when I caught the clay bug at the Community College of Allegheny County and never looked back! My work consists of ergonomic and organic forms that are wood fired in a kiln for about 48 hours. The kiln’s only fuel source is wood, and the air to combust that wood, so a team of myself and other devoted yinzer potters intimately stay up all night to ensure we reach temperature. I work primarily on the wheel, and alter most of my forms with darting techniques to fit the hands of the folks who intend on using them. By choosing to fire my work in an atmosphere enhanced by wood or soda, I am able to strive toward an aesthetic that reflects the environment around me. Colors from Earth’s natural resources decorate the surfaces of my pots, leaving beautiful marks of flame in hues of red, orange, brown, green and blue. I believe strongly in handmade pottery and the effect it can have on an otherwise mundane life. All of my pots are microwave and dishwasher safe, intended for everyday use. Thanks for checking me out and please visit my booth Dec 1st and 2nd at the Convention Center!
