Welcome to Broken Plates! We offer a line of contemporary glass wearables that combines traditional blown glass techniques with modern CNC technologies.
My name is Gillian Preston. I’m a classically trained glass artist, graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in Glass in 2009. I moved to Pittsburgh after graduation because of its incredible glass community, supported by the state-of-the-art glass blowing facility located at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. Broken Plates was born in 2013 and we’ve been blowing the colorful glass plates that serve as the canvas for our glass wearables at the Pittsburgh Glass Center ever since. We purchased a studio out in Mckees Rocks in 2018 and use the space to turn our raw glass surfaces into wearable works of art.
All Broken Plates glass wearables are durable, scratch resistant, easy to clean, and safe for daily wear. We provide custom cushioned boxes for our more elaborate pieces that allow for safe keeping, shipping, and gifting.
We use either sterling silver or surgical steel post for our studs and either sterling silver or gold-filled ear wire for all of our hooked earrings. You can choose either sterling silver or gold-filled findings when you check out.
We ship all orders USPS Priority within 3-5 business days of your order.
