ABOUT US:
Greetings from the Forged in Kol Inc. maker page! My name is Kyle Gercken. I am a blacksmith based out of Slippery Rock, PA. I have been forging for just about 10 years now. I started as an undergrad art student at Slippery Rock University with a focus on painting. I took other elective art classes during my time at SRU and found myself in a metalsmithing class completely mesmerized by the art. I ended up switching my focus to metalsmithing and the rest is history. I am a member of the American Bladesmith Society and currently working towards my Journeyman certification. My wife, Lizz, is the backbone of our business, she has supported me and pushed me to do what I love since day one. She runs our business and together we make a great team. We welcomed our first little one this year and couldn’t be more excited that we added another member to our crew. Thanks for checking us out!
ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS:
Our goods are all hand-forged from locally or up-cycled materials. Most of our steel is tool or mild steel sourced from New Jersey. Our blades are made from 80crv2 & 1095 high carbon steel. We offer many styles of knives from hunting knives to kitchen cleavers. Along with knives, we make an array of forged goods, S-hooks, wall sconces, flower basket hangers, fire spits, and forged necklaces. Custom work is offered throughout the year, so if you do not see exactly what you are looking for on our page, send us a message and we can discuss your custom project. Lastly, we offer blacksmithing classes! Students will get the experience of a lifetime when booking for either of our Basics of Blacksmithing and Intro to Bladesmithing classes.
