Funky Pickle Art
ABOUT ME:
Welcome to Funky Pickle Art, Funky Pickle Art maker page! My name is Kayley Messner and I have been making art my whole life. I am senior in college, and I am attending Chatham University for a visual arts degree full time while also making/selling my art. I have always wanted to be an artist and now I am finally pushing myself further into the art world. Most of my art prints are linocuts that I carve from linoleum. I print on all different types of paper and up-cycled book pages from books I thrift or buy at local book sales. I try to be thrifty with my art and make best with the materials that I have and never letting good materials go to waste. I also make bookmarks that consist of watercolor, markers, and pens. I love making art that relates to nature and from nature that I see when I travel. I often get inspiration nature and from my hobbies, as well. I like to create beautiful pieces that people can hang on their walls or to use for marking their place in their books. I also loom knit hats, scrunchies, and pickle plushies. Thanks for checking me out!
ABOUT MY PRODUCTS:
My prints are linocuts that I print from linoleum blocks and Japanese vinyl using block printing ink. The linoleum and vinyl blocks are hand carved. These prints are individually printed onto printmaking paper or on to up-cycled book pages. For my bookmarks, I use watercolor and water and alcohol-based markers, while topping off the details with pen. My bookmarks are then laminated to ensure protection. The loom knits good are made from acrylic yarn.
