Green Ware Studio

Green Ware Studio produces funky functional pottery to brighten your every day.  The name Green Ware Studio reveals a lot about me and my approach to ceramics—a nod to the Greenfield neighborhood I live in and re-discovered my love for all things mud; the process of creating the pieces; which involves layering carving and color on greenware (unfired clay); and the botanical, green inspiration that shows up in a lot of my work.

Whether mugs, planters, kitchen ware, earrings, dishes, or other home goods, each of my pieces is one of a kind.  In ceramics, many people evoke the kiln gods to watch over our work through each stage and firing.  At any point, you can lose the piece and you can’t truly create an identical one again.  I have really leaned into that as part of my process.  I use the same general styles, but I don’t try to make matching sets.  There is intention in each step of the process and something to be learned from the perfect imperfection that comes out in each piece.

I use mid-fire clay and a combination of wheel-thrown and slab building techniques to create pieces that are suitable for everyday use—this means microwave and dishwasher safe, sanded bottoms to reduce the risk of scratching surfaces, and surgical grade stainless steel for earrings.
