Hi there! Welcome to the Husk Brooms maker page. I’m Tia Tumminello, owner of Husk Brooms. Husk Brooms offers handcrafted brooms and brushes for home, studio, and sacred spaces. I started my broom making journey in 2021 and launched the business in 2023 making the 2023 holiday market my first Handmade Arcade event-come say hi! Husk Brooms help make tidying enjoyable, and sacred. Not only are these brooms functional, but they also add a touch of charm to any space. Each broom is crafted with intention and sustainability in mind. On my personal journey to eliminate plastic tools from my home, I gravitated towards traditional crafts and the power of natural tools. I’m honored to be able to continue the traditional craft of broom and brush making in a contemporary context. I source broom handles from the shores of Lake Erie and from fallen branches in nearby woods. Being based in Pittsburgh, I’m honored to be work collaboratively with other makers and craftspeople. As the year comes to end, I’m happy to share a goal of mine for 2024 will be working with local farmers to grow broom corn on a larger scale to provide material for the business and help educate others interested in broom making!
