ABOUT ME:
Come on into Jowdy Studio! I’m A.J. Collins, and I’ve had my hands in clay since 2001. Now I make stark, vibrant ceramics that bring energy into homes and into the lives of the folks who use my work. Though I focus on the decorative finishes of my pieces—from mugs to centerpiece bowls to statement vases—each is wholly functional and intended for daily use. I love the process of creating lively vessels from humble lumps of clay and raw color pigments. It’s a form of magic. I often feel like a conduit for the designs and forms that I make. Each piece I make is one-of-a-kind, and I find so much joy when I see my customers light up when they feel connected to my work. I hope you find a piece that calls to you.
ABOUT MY PRODUCTS:
All of my work is made from high-fired porcelain, the toughest and brightest of all clays. I make each piece in my studio in Pittsburgh by hand, start to finish. I have developed a full spectrum of bright yet matte glazes that compliment the clay’s buttery surface, and all are functional, and microwave and dishwasher safe (though I do recommend handwashing). My pieces are great for gifts of all kinds (especially weddings and holidays!) and for folks looking to bring color and light to their homes, adding those vital pops of color to accent their interior spaces.
