Karen Womack is a textile artist who uses color to make bold statements in quilts Her mission is to disrupt the stereotype of quilting as a necessary home textile, and raise the profile of art in fabric. As a black textile artist she incorporates her cultural history of quilting in fabric offerings, tote bags and other home decor.
Karen is a quilter, quilt teacher and owner of Quiltstyle, an Etsy fabric shop. She began sewing at an early age, and started her first business in high school making prom gowns for her classmates. She began quilting after college and learned to source African and African-inspired fabrics rarely found in stores.
