ABOUT ME:
Welcome to Le Puppet Regime! I’m owner and designer Genevieve Geer. My Work and my Curiosity
are life-long partners in crime. We careen around our world with a magnifying glass and a notebook,
looking for materials, information, inspiration, and new food for thought. This month it might be
Russian propaganda art and vintage kimono design and next month the focus could shift to a walk
through Grimm’s forests or a series of Cold War Spy Novels. Little seeds from all the interesting bits
of life fall into the work and spring up in the most delightful ways. Feeding this garden of ideas is a
full-time job, and I feel very lucky to be doing it.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTS:
I create jointed movable stained glass sculptures by combining old-fashioned techniques with
modern tech. I hand paint each puppet part with glass powder paint I mix for each color, adding eyes
and fingernails, tattoos and pattern. This paint is then kiln-fired onto the flat glass, which is cut, soldered,
patinaed, and waxed for the final step. Every joint is fitted with tiny brass bolts so that the piece can
move: circus performers can do high kicks and strongmen can lift weights. My Petite Art line
incorporates original drawings that are enameled onto translucent milk glass in batches. The Petite
Art serves as my version of an illustrator’s “print” and they look amazing hung in clusters on the
wall!
