ABOUT ME:
Hi, welcome to MaeveMade! My name is Maeve Sattler and I make handmade paper star ornaments, tree toppers, wreaths, and other whimsical, celestial-inspired decor based on the traditional Polish jeżyk (“little hedgehog), also known as Polish stars. The first time I saw this type of star ornament was when I received a gift from my piano teacher when I was ten years old. Many years later I learned how to make the intricate design and started MaeveMade in 2013 to share my own take on this century-old folk art tradition.
ABOUT MY PRODUCTS:
I make each star carefully and meticulously using decorative and recycled paper cut and rolled by hand into 96 distinct points. Some of my designs also feature hand-dyed recycled silk ribbons. Each star takes at least an hour to create, and can take several more hours depending on the size and complexity. It is a gradual process resulting in a light and playful starburst shape that complements all styles from modern to traditional.
MaeveMade stars make a striking addition to holiday trimmings and can easily be featured as distinctive pieces in year-round décor. At any time of year, the stars look exquisite hanging from a tree branch, suspended from a ceiling or chandelier, paired with flower arrangements and centerpieces, clustered in a bowl, or simply displayed on an end table, mantel, or bookshelf.
