Scrapwerx

You name it, I’ve done it:
Dental lab owner and technician, making removable appliances, orthodontics, crown, and bridge.
Wax Cast jewelry making; silver and gold.
Metal sculpting, wood working.
Natural health Center owner (and I practice a natural, chemical free lifestyle.)
Fiber work:
Crochet, knit, macrame, needlework, wet and needle felting, weaving, sewing, quilting, sustainability…
I was the former creative director of the Pgh Creative Arts Festival and have worked with creative people, makers, artists and artisans for 20 years. I lost my business during the pandemic and reinvented my life‘s work and my mission almost immediately. (No grass growing under my feet!)
I began collecting fabric scraps from local organizations and individuals who were sewing masks and began Scrapwerx, with the intention of keeping scraps out of a landfill. I am proud to say that in two short years, I have single-handedly diverted 1 ton of textile waste that would have been thrown away.
Having grown up as a child of two concentration and prisoner-of-war camp survivors during the second world war, I was taught at a very early age that nothing is wasted. We immigrated to this country with very little and make the best of life with what we had. We took sweaters and dresses apart and remade them, mended socks, and every article of clothing was handed down in our family of 7.
It fills my heart with joy that I am carrying on those lessons that were learned early in life and can share my mission with others.
