the OddCouple

Hi! Welcome to “the OddCouple!” I create kitschy, quirky, and often wearable art. Most things I make are stuffed felt, plush little dudes. My pieces tend to be very tactile, full of different textures, combining hand-sewing, embroidery, needle-felting, beading, and chains. This allows my accessories to get super large, while usually staying lightweight.
“The OddCouple” features items that are playful, emotional, and gaudy. I’m inspired by both the natural and fantastical, finding magic in the mundane and living like a Borrower. I hoard bits and bobs, often gathering things second-hand, and then let them inspire my creations.
Making asymmetrical pieces is currently one of my favorite things to do, because leaning into the chaos of creativity helps me stop overthinking and start creating. I also love the juxtaposition asymmetry provides; how sometimes illustrating an opposite in a playful context blurs their supposed opposition. I’d love for the art I get to share through “the OddCouple” to help people be less afraid to be their messy, goofy selves out loud.
