Tiny Cloud Ceramics
Hi there! My name is Mary Clark, and I create handmade pottery under the name Tiny Cloud Ceramics. I first started working with clay in 2012 in a mandatory foundational 3D class when I attended The University Of Akron with the intent to pursue an illustration career. A few years later, I was graduating with my BFA in Ceramics in 2016 and starting Tiny Cloud that very same summer! I currently work out of a group studio in Akron, Ohio. I really love things that are kitschy and clean, citing my kawaii culture obsessed childhood as a main influence on my style. Being able to make something unique and new out of a centuries old medium is incredible fulfilling, and I appreciate you checking me out!
My products are all functional pottery pieces. I use underglaze to paint the surfaces, and on many pieces I carve designs into the colors using a technique called sgraffito. I use a high fire stoneware clay, firing to ~2260 degrees fahrenheit. While I do recommend hand washing handmade pottery to ensure longevity, they do OK in the dishwasher.
