Formerly known as our Spring Market, Handmade Arcade's Emerging Craft Market has expanded from 30 to nearly 70 juried emerging artists and makers from across the Pittsburgh region and beyond. Come discover your next favorite maker while shopping thoughtfully handcrafted goods, enjoying hands on art activities and demonstrations, grabbing a bite from local food trucks, and supporting artists at the beginning of their handmade business journey.

The Pay-What-You-Can Ticketing Model

Community-Funded. Maker-Powered.
Our pay-what-you-can tickets are more than admission. They're a way to invest in the makers and creative community that make Handmade Arcade possible.

Every contribution helps Handmade Arcade support artists through our markets, educational programs, mentorship, scholarships, and other opportunities that help makers build sustainable creative businesses. It also helps us keep events like the Emerging Craft Market welcoming and accessible for both makers and shoppers.

Over the last three years, Handmade Arcade has more than tripled its operating budget. That growth has allowed us to create more opportunities for makers, launch new programs, expand scholarships, and connect thousands more shoppers with independent artists.

As we've grown, our funding model has grown too. Handmade Arcade was once supported primarily through grants and small business sponsorships. Today, the people who believe in our mission play an increasingly important role in helping us continue to grow and serve our creative community.

  • DIY Bags with Assemble

    Join Assemble in creating your own DIY (Design it Yourself) shopping tote! Whether you need a bag to carry your Holiday Market purchases, a little bit of extra storage, or a specially designed tote you can give as a gift, this is the right stop!

  • Hot Wheels & Market with Pittsburgh Glass Center

    Let the artists from Pittsburgh Glass Center blow your mind! Hot Wheels, the center’s traveling glass studio, will roll into the market and bring furnace-fired fun and glass-blowing demonstrations to all attendees, creating fiery works of art from molten magma.

  • Felted Sugar Cookie Ornament Making with House of Paidia

    Make an adorable felt sugar cookie ornament using felt sheets and embroidery thread with House of Paidia! These felt ornaments are perfect for hanging on a Christmas tree or in a window during the winter season. Take home your own paper pattern foldable so that you can share this sweet little craft with friends and family!

  • Create Your Own Wrapping Paper with Artist Image Resources and CAPA

    Watch the process of large-scale silk screening up close as AIR artists and CAPA students create silk-screened art on enormous sheets of paper. A few lucky attendees can take a sheet home to use as handmade holiday wrapping paper.

  • Interactive Rug Weaving with Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh

    The members of the Fiberarts Guild will do an interactive demo of rag rug weaving! The focus will be simple weaving skills and sustainability using spools of fabric strips that were intended for a landfill. Contribute to a large rag rug that will be donated as a 2024 Holiday Market raffle prize!

  • Wheel Mobile with Union Project

    Stop by for ceramics and clay wheel-throwing demonstrations from Union Project artists.

  • Play with Clay with Westinghouse Arts Academy Charter School

    Participants will have a hands-on experience with real mid-fire clay with Westinghouse Arts Academy! You will have access to tools and stencils to make a creation that stays at the table for other visitors to enjoy.

  • Screenprinting with Prototype PGH

    Learn to screenprint using the CNC vinyl cutter with Prototype PGH! We will show you how to make vinyl stencils that can then be applied to screens and printed onto posters! Everyone who participates will leave with their own screenprinted poster.

  • Candle Making Demonstration with Wigenton Candle Co

    Come and spend some time with Wigenton Candle Co as they demo their candle making process. You'll have an opportunity to not only see their process but also purchase a candle of your own.

  • A Poems Purpose with Haley Clancy

    Share a feeling and your hopes with poet Haley Clancy and receive a spontaneous, personalized poem typed on the spot on her typewriter.
