Bonita Penn, B's Bags

Bonita Lee Penn is the founder and maker behind B’s Bags | Bold. Beautifully Sustainable. Her mother taught her to sew at the age of eight, and that relationship with fabric began in childhood and grew into a disciplined, intentional craft practice.

Her work centers on thoughtfully constructed tote bags and limited-edition garments made from sustainable and reclaimed textiles. She is drawn to fabrics that can be reimagined, reinforced, and transformed into pieces designed for daily use and long life. Each bag is built with durability, bold design, and attention to detail.

As a Black sewist and multidisciplinary artist, Bonita understands making as both tradition and innovation. Sewing, in many Black communities, has long been a language of resourcefulness, self-determination, and creative expression. Through B’s Bags, she honors that lineage while contributing to a contemporary maker movement grounded in sustainability and intentional production.

Her presence within the handmade community reflects a commitment to representation, craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility. She creates pieces that are not only functional but meaningful objects that carry story, care, and purpose.

Through B’s Bags | Bold. Beautifully Sustainable., Bonita contributes skilled craftsmanship, cultural continuity, and a bold, sustainable perspective to the Handmade Arcade community.
