Emmanuelle Wambach
Teaching Artist & Maker, Emmanuelle Ceramics, LLC
Emmanuelle Wambach earned her BA in Art from Swarthmore College (2008), a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (2009), and an MFA in Ceramics and Sculpture from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2012). She moved to Pittsburgh in 2014 and quickly became active in the city’s arts community, joining groups like Union Project, Women of Visions, the Origins Cohort, and the Creative Business Accelerator.
In 2016, Emmanuelle completed a ceramics residency in Japan, returning with a renewed passion for the medium and a deeper connection to her identity as a queer, Black, female artist. Inspired by her mother’s love of gardening, lace, and fabric, she began exploring the history of lace, which now informs her current body of textured ceramic work.
Today, Emmanuelle is a teaching artist at Union Project and a member of several Pittsburgh-area arts organizations. Her work is sold at various venues throughout the city, and she recently served on the Handmade Arcade Advisory Committee.
