Jayla Patton (she/her/they/them) is an award-winning artist, creator, and arts educator, she expresses herself through the creation of art, not limited to digital and traditional art, comics, and illustration.

Through their works, they are a mystical creator of wispy dreamscapes made of saturated and juicy colors. They experiment with the balance of body horror and black beauty.

Their medium of choice is Watercolor. Due to the flowy nature of the paints and how they react and interact with water on saturated paper.

Jayla is an Afrofuturist. They rebel against the idea of being told “you can’t” and they seek to answer the questions “Can I?”, and “Will I?” with “I will”

They will continue exploring the infinite paths and walks of becoming and acknowledging the “self” as an artist to discover and cultivate what lies at their core.

They are inquisitive and seek to disrupt the idea of “perfect” in the creation of works. Jayla searches for a balance or imbalance of complementary & grotesque.
