TaMara Howard, Folk Quilt LLC
TaMara Howard is a quilt-centered fiber artist and creative entrepreneur whose work bridges geometry, cultural memory, and functional design. Working primarily with cotton and natural fibers, she creates original quilted textiles that are both expressive and made for everyday use. Her design process begins with geometric structure, allowing pattern, repetition, and balance to guide decisions around fabric, scale, and rhythm.
Many of the textiles she incorporates are sourced from Africa, bringing global material traditions into conversation with the quilting legacy shaped in the United States. Through careful construction and intentional stitching, her work reflects continuity between past and present—honoring the role quilts have played in providing warmth, care, and resilience while situating them within contemporary spaces.
TaMara’s quilts and quilted goods have been exhibited in regional and national venues, and she has participated in juried quilt shows and marketplaces, including The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. In addition to creating finished work, she is committed to sharing the cultural and technical foundations of quilting through workshops, lectures, and community-based programming.
Her practice centers on craftsmanship, durability, and thoughtful design—creating quilted work that is rooted in tradition, responsive to geometry, and made to live fully in the present.
