Christine Holtz is a Pittsburgh-based artist creating cyanotype works on paper and fabric, as well as handmade functional objects. Drawing on her background in photography, she uses the historic cyanotype process to explore the natural and industrial landscapes of Western Pennsylvania.
Her work begins with photographs, found botanical materials, and objects collected from the landscape, which she transforms through sunlight and the distinctive Prussian blue of cyanotype. Her collection includes original artwork, textiles, tote bags, pillows, table linens, and other small-batch pieces designed to bring art into everyday life.
Each piece is individually exposed, developed, and finished by hand. The variations created by sunlight, materials, and process mean that no two pieces are exactly alike.
