Citizen Made is a handmade goods line created by artists at Creative Citizen Studios (CCS), a Pittsburgh-area nonprofit arts organization based in Millvale. CCS works with adult artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving them a professional studio space to make, exhibit, and sell their own work. Through Citizen Made, artists design and produce a line of functional art, including handwoven textiles and other goods, developed in partnership with Contemporary Craft. Every piece is made by hand, and every sale directly supports the artist who made it and the program, offering supplemental income. Shoppers who buy a Citizen Made piece are supporting inclusive access to the arts and helping build a community where artists of all abilities can thrive, create, and be recognized for their work.
