Feltography is handcrafted, two-dimensional fiber art created through the layered manipulation of natural fibers. Using wool, silk, bamboo, and other fibers, I create vibrant portraits and landscapes that merge illustration, textile, and painterly surface.
Each piece begins with a photograph that informs composition and color. I hand-blend multiple types and hues of wool and shape them primarily through dry needle felting, occasionally incorporating wet felting techniques. As fibers are layered and interlock, they create depth, shadow, and texture, allowing an image to slowly emerge through a tactile, meditative process.
