Meet the Maker: Discover landscapes that come alive through stained glass! Unique window or wall hangings cut from rolled art glass sheets into impressionist landscape patterns; joined with copper foil, tin-lead solder & copper patina; mounted with copper frame & chain. I am an impressionist who uses glass to capture line, color, motion, and season—inviting you to feel wind in your hair, warmth on your face, waves rocking your boat, or water flowing over your toes. Each of my stained-glass panels freezes a moment in nature. Embrace the wonder of rolling mountains, desert skies, and babbling streams, usually illuminated by sun or moon. My landscape views may be imagined or real. Patrons often exclaim, “I’ve been there! You captured my place!” Handcrafted using the copper foil technique, this art is an experience waiting to be hung in your window or on your wall. My first step is to select rolled art glass sheets whose textures, patterns, and colors invoke land, water, and sky. Next, I draw a landscape-shaped jigsaw puzzle pattern and cut out each glass puzzle piece to fit exactly. I cut simple lines using hand-held glass scoring tools. I use a wet ring saw to cut intricate, high-risk lines. Then I use copper tape to foil the edge of each piece of cut glass. Finally, I apply a bead of solder to join the pieces together, deposit a copper patina onto the solder, and frame the art in solid copper. The designing and making process invites me to lose myself in the moment-to-moment creative flow of vision, action, response, and result.
