Meet the Maker: Zosimos Metal is the jewelry-design brand of artist and metalsmith Kylie Nickles. Drawing inspiration from the ancient alchemist Zosimos of Panopolis, who sought to transform lead and copper into silver and gold, Zosimos Metal takes up that metaphor of change through jewelry. In a small Pennsylvania studio, I work with recycled metals—honoring the idea of material rebirth, of giving second life to metal, and of inviting the maker’s hand into each moment of fabrication. The aesthetic of Zosimos Metal is rooted in texture and organic form. Using the lost wax casting method, I emphasize irregular finishes and surfaces that bear the marks of process. Whether high-polished or subtly oxidized, each piece carries the imprint of its making. Zosimos Metal invites the wearer to engage with material, form, and story. Each piece embodies the alchemy of craft through the transformation of metal and stones into something luminous, personal, and alive with character.
