2026 Emerging Craft Market Applications

About the Emerging Craft Market

Designed as a “springboard” market for new and emerging makers, HA’s annual juried Emerging Craft Market features over 80 artists and makers who are relatively new to selling their products at in-person markets. Selected makers for the Emerging Craft Market receive a series of workshops and resources designed to help set them up for sales success at larger markets.

Jurying Rubric

Applications will be scored by each juror on a scale of 1 to 4 in each rubric category. 1 is the lowest possible score in each category, and 4 is the highest possible score.

The rubric categories are Craft & Technical Skills, Creativity & Innovation, Product Quality, Brand & Product Cohesion, and Market Readiness.

Click here to view a PDF of the rubric.

  • The jury is looking for applicants who exhibit a masterful level of craftsmanship and techniques in making their products.

  • The jury is looking for fresh, innovative approaches to contemporary craft through selection of materials to techniques used in the creation process. Work should be unique, one-of-a-kind, and extremely difficult to replicate.

  • The jury is looking for products of the highest quality and without technical faults, both aesthetically and functionally.

  • The jury is looking for applicants who have thought about their overall brand as a maker and craftsperson. The applicant’s products should be cohesive and reflect the maker’s unique perspective and approach to their craft.

  • The Jury is looking for high-quality product photos, strong booth design, cohesive packaging and branding, and overall audience appeal.

  • Identity-Based:

One of Handmade Arcade’s values is anti-racism. We acknowledge that anti-racist practices recognize that folks holding intersectional identities often experience greater inequalities to access artistic opportunities. In order to address these disparities in the jurying process, applicants can receive up to three (3) total additional points if they fit any of the following criteria:

    • Applicant is a BIPOC maker (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color)

    • Applicant is part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community

    • Applicant is a maker with a disability

Recommended by Emerging Makers

  • "I have sold at other markets, and by far, this was the best turn out yet! Even though the booth fee was slightly higher, I made more profit than other markets/craft shows I have participated in. There was foot traffic all day and I felt like there were hardly any lulls. I really appreciated that I could be a part of this market! It connected me with customers, other makers, and the pre-market resources were great."

  • "I think this was the biggest market I’ve done yet - both revenue and amount of shoppers. It was nonstop all day long! It was incredible. Also, I felt this market understood me. The people were genuinely curious and interested in me and my items. I was glowing when I left. I made some amazing connections! This was so well put together-bravo. If I could do this market forever - every weekend - I would. I cannot stop sharing good things about this market."
