Hi, I’m Charlie Wallace, and I’m a famous artist. I’m like a celebrity. This is my third Handmade Arcade, and I’ve got a new show for you: “That’s Good Casting, with Charlie Wallace.” I’ve got so many new paper dolls this year: dolls of Chaka Khan, RuPaul, Richard Simmons, and Beetlejuice. I’ve got Whitney Houston with her family, and Captain Eo with his spaceship crew. And I’m always making live drawings and custom portraits of my friends and fans. See you at the movies!
ABOUT MY PRODUCTS:
My art practice revolves around extensive research of celebrity culture and relationships. I work primarily as an oil pastel illustrator, producing dolls and posters of famous people and scenes from films. The dolls are typically 18×24 paper cutouts, lined with wire for wall mounting. I originally began my practice as a way to take ownership over a glamorous but distant lifestyle. Now, I make work so that people can share in their enthusiasm for the icons I love.
