Loon Designs

Hello! My name is Somer Baun and I am the maker behind Loon Designs. My bags, leather and knit accessories, and home goods are all designed, and hand crafted by me. As a long time maker for friends and family, I finally decided to offer my creations to everyone. Being a mother, I realized I had a need for multiple bags, in various sizes, with different functions. I started designing and crafting bags for all of the activities you encounter in your day-to-day life. My handmade knit accessories came about in a similar manner. Unable to find a scarf and a hat that I loved; I designed my own. I love knitting a hat, crocheting a blanket, sewing a quilt, patching an old pair of jeans, or making a bag. Working with my hands, using different textiles, and experimenting with different techniques are just a few of the reasons why I love what I do. Whether it be knitting or sewing, the process of seeing an idea come to fruition in the form of a finished good is so satisfying. About my products:

Loon Designs is a collection of bags, knit and leather accessories, and home goods. Bags are made from waxed canvas, with leather accents. Waxed canvas is a highly water-resistant fabric with a rugged look that distresses much like leather. The interiors of the bags are made from Ottertex which is a waterproof fabric. Bags are designed to be classic and simple and function well for everyday life. Knit accessories are made from high quality yarn blends and are meant to be staples of your everyday wardrobe. The smallest aspect of the collection was created as a way to reuse waste material.  The home goods are made from rope and scrap fabric. The leather accessories are made from scraps of leather that are no longer of useable sizes for bag making.
