ABOUT ME:
Hello and welcome to the McDaniel Pottery maker page. My name is Caelin McDaniel and I have been hand crafting small-batch ceramics for six years. I have always had a deep desire to craft handmade objects. I am particularly fascinated by functional art and the role it plays in our daily lives.
There are stories behind handcrafted objects. They are the physical representation of the love and labor an artist has dedicated to their craft. Through daily use, you add your own stories to these objects.
We gather together to celebrate some of life’s most meaningful moments with food and drink. The pots that adorn your table aren’t just vessels that deliver nourishment but also have a way of collecting the stories of those moments. There is an old, chippy, hand painted, Victorian platter my mother brings out every Christmas. She fills it with home-baked cookies made with recipes handed down through generations. There’s something deeply comforting in seeing this platter every year. It has become part of the fabric of our holiday traditions and brings to mind a flood of memories every time I see it.
