Welcome to Studio Glass Company! I apprenticed in art glass in the 1990’s in the hot shops of Santa Fe, NM, and have been exploring this demanding and beautiful material ever since. My contemporary glass work is designed to be both affordable and useful for the average person who would like to own handmade art glass in their own home. Orders from my Etsy shop are all shipped for free and packed using all recyclable materials.
The imagery in my pieces is created using a revolutionary new technique called Powder Printing. Powder printing is an adaptation of screen printing techniques that replaces ink and paper with powdered glass and sheet glass. A prepared screen is placed above a layer of flat sheet glass, and I create the image by forcing powdered colored glass through the screens onto the sheet glass, which becomes the canvas for the design. When fired in the kiln, the glass particles fuse together, and pieces can then be used as panels or set up over ceramic or metal forms and heated until they slump into a desired shape.
