ABOUT ME: Hey there! I’m Heidi Jacobs of Whitehall Pottery and welcome to my maker page. I make small-batch and one-off pottery pieces. I was educated as a sculptor and have worked in graphics in my day job for the past 15 years – I have been able to mix both disciplines into my craft. My studio is in the south hills of Pittsburgh in my home. My dream is to be able to scale up so that I can have a teaching studio and can share the joy of ceramics with those interested in the practice. In order to get to that point, I’ve focused on supplying gift shops and small businesses with functional pieces they can gift to clients and sell to customers. My real joy comes from making my sculptural vases and trying out different techniques for firing. Thanks for coming by!
ABOUT MY WARES: My pieces are wheel-thrown and slab-built from mid-fire clay supplied from Carnegie’s Standard Ceramic Supply. Most of my glazes are commercially sourced from them as well. All of the stamps and designs are 3D printed or are from laser-etched rolling pins. Each piece is carefully hand assembled and fired through 2-firings. The initial fire is called a bisque fire then a second fire fuses the glaze to the surface. They make great unique gifts for friends, family, and clientele. They are also perfect for sparking up conversations with folks around the Keurig.
