Hands-On Happenings: Free Crafty Classes are Coming to You!

November 17, 2020

You’ve heard that Handmade Arcade is going virtual this year, right? Here’s one of the coolest parts: we’re bringing hands-on handmade happenings right to your house (or screen)!

So snuggle down and log in to your choice of online classes, demonstrations, Meet-the-Maker events — catering to all interests and age groups, November 28 through December 6.

Classes:

And yes, the classes are FREE! Some of them offer affordable kits — a great way to support independent businesses right now — or show you how to follow along using materials you may have at home. Either way, you’ll find opportunities to have fun, create, and make thoughtful holiday gifts. All classes will be hosted live.

  • Make it a family affair with kid-friendly classes like Assemble’s Engineering Challenge (Sat, Nov. 28), which shows you how to build a bridge from egg cartons, rubber bands, and other household items. Then drop into Recycled & Reconfigured: Everyday Objects with Sarah Cohen Studios (Sun, Dec. 6) to transform everyday objects into masks, hats, dragon tails, wings, costumes, and more.
  • Or chill out and practice self-care with Una Biologicals (Sun, Nov. 29). Log on to learn the healing properties of essential oils and ways to use them. You can order a fabulously fragrant kit in advance to make your own stress-relief roll-ons.
  • Speaking of fun kits, the Pittsburgh Glass Center has everything you need to make a fun holiday tree ornament when you log into their Winter Mosaic Making class (Sat. Nov. 28). Take one look and see if you can resist!
  • Or, download a printable template in time to cut a charming animal tree out of paper with Kathryn Carr of Go Carr Go (Sun. Dec. 6). She’ll show you how to turn paper into an animal-themed centerpiece you can display all year long.

There’s, even more, to pick from, too, so browse our free classes and reserve your spots now.

Missed your chance to sign-up? Don’t worry!

The recorded class be uploaded to the Handmade Arcade website. Want to buy a kit as a gift? You can! The classes will be online well into 2021 to be revisited again and again!
